Barn Talk - The Radio Play
BARN TALK - THE NEW LIVE ACTION RADIO PLAY
"Smart, witty, tight...A darn good play!"*
Barn Talk by Kathleen Cleland Moyer is a family "comedy with poignant moments". First performed in 2003 at the Cober Bauman farm in Shakespeare, it played to sold out audiences and rave reviews. With the support of the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund, Barn Talk has been transformed into a contemporary (2022) live action radio play. New format, new characters, new twists and turnsand a new surprise ending. Still a darn good play! *Harry Currie, Arts Reviewer, The Record, 2003

THE PREMISE
Jimmy McKay is worried about the state of the world. He thinks its leaders are flailing about. Jimmy McKay isnt flailing about. In fact, the "70 something" farmer from Waterloo County isnt going anywhere. He wont leave the barn until he gets an audience with the Powers That Be. His recently deceased wife Annie had a lot of smart things to say--Jimmy thinks Joe Biden should hear her out.

His old order Mennonite neighbours, his Gen X son, his bad ass granddaughter and the local man of God (who's not sure about God) try to convince Jimmy to leave the barn. But Jimmy is determined. Someone needs to do something about the frightening things going on in the worldsomeone needs to give the politicians a straight-up barn talk.

WHAT IS A LIVE ACTION RADIO PLAY?
Actors will play their roles with gustowith scripts in hand and speaking into "radio" microphones. Sound effects and live music will support the action. The studio audience (you!) will sit back to enjoy a story that will make you laugh, make you think...and possibly tug at your heart!
